Online conference

Some ideas about making online conferences better:

• Instead of creating parallel sessions of talks, maybe create a parallel between research talk and social sessions. In the research section, group talks with similar topics together. People who may not be so interested in those can go to the social sessions.
• Flipped conference. Provide talks beforehand. Use the meeting time mainly for Q&A and discussion.
• Use some games or activities rather than just having “networking” sessions.
• Meta-sessions. Diversity, improving conference, improving the field.
• Community rules
• Mentor-matching programs, start well before the conference. Help people to prepare their talks and get feedbacks before the conference.
