High-cost, high-capacity backbone for global brain communication

Here we show that the set of pathways linking rich club regions forms a central high-cost, high-capacity backbone for global brain communication.

The cost of a connection is defined as “the number of streamlines multiplied by their physical length”. The capacity is measured by the paths that pass through the connection.
