Life After Cars in Charlottesville
Hi everyone,
Quick note because I’m genuinely excited about this one.
Life After Cars (Charlottesville)
On Monday, March 30, 2026, from 6:30-7:30pm, we’re hosting a conversation about what life after cars could look like in Charlottesville.
I’ve followed Sarah Goodyear and Doug Gordon through The War on Cars for a while, and I really appreciate how they make transportation feel both practical and hopeful. Their new book, Life After Cars, is exactly the kind of framing I want more of: clear about the harms of car dependence, but also concrete about better alternatives.
I’m especially excited that Jamelle Bouie will join as a special guest. He brings a sharp local lens (and excellent e-bike energy), which should help us keep the conversation grounded in what we can actually do here in Charlottesville.
If you care about safer streets, better transit, or just making it easier to get around without needing a car for everything, I think you’ll enjoy this.
